Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport
The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport is an interdisciplinary research center leading a global effort to accelerate change for girls and women in sport and physical activity and their families and communities. Formed in 1993 by the vision and pioneering spirit of Dorothy McNeill Tucker, the Tucker Center is devoted to sponsoring, promoting, and disseminating scholarly activity on how sport impacts the lives of girls and women.
Since its inception, the Tucker Center has provided centralization, organization, scientific excellence, and national leadership on issues of great national and local significance. Through its direction and leadership, it encourages researchers, policy makers, educators, parents and practitioners to work together to better the lives of girls and women in ways that go far beyond the playing fields.
Title IX Honor Roll & Honorees Selection Committee
Minnesota Sports and Events engaged the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport to form a selection committee to lead the selection of the Title IX Honorees. The Committee finalized criteria and researched potential candidates with assistance from Tucker Center staff. The Tucker Center Committee selected 11 finalists.
The Committee also named an Honor Roll of athletes, supporters and media in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and to recognize the abundance of outstanding women athletes and the supporters who helped along the journey in Minnesota.
